#LifeHacks - Grilled onions are great for flavor, and cleaning
Before you can even think about a menu, your grill is likely in serious need of some love after its long hibernation. Cut an onion in half and brush it with olive oil, then attach it to a fork and scrape your grill's grates to clean up its act. Not only is it a natural way to keep it tidy, but it leaves behind a little flavor.
Pro Tip: Once your grill is clean, you can compliment the onion flavor even more with fresh herbs, like thyme and rosemary, right on the grate. They'll infuse anything you cook on top!
#MeatlessMonday - BBQ isn't just for ribs anymore
We believe vegetables can do anything – even during BBQ season! Check out our handy guide to Veggie Alternatives You Should Meat. Jackfruit is especially useful in the summer, as it pairs well with the tang and smoke of classic BBQ sauces. We love jackfruit "pulled pork" from Minimalist Baker because the addition of avocado slaw gives just the right amount of crunch and elevates the sandwich to an outdoor dining experience. #DairyFree - Don't say cheese, say squash
Macaroni and cheese is a picnic table staple, and many would argue the classic side is not to be tampered with. That is, until they've tasted the unexpectedly creamy version with...Butternut Squash! Our favorite is this recipe from Oh She Glows.
Pro Tip: Rather than sweat to death in the kitchen, just brush olive oil on round slices of butternut squash and grill on medium for 15 - 20 minutes (or until tender) to infuse the dish with that backyard flavor.
#SweetTreats - Healthy dessert without all the fake stuff
We could give you a recipe for a better-for-you pie, or we could just save you more time and mess. With only three ingredients and absolutely no baking, Frozen Yogurt Bark is a lighter, healthier option that will surprise and satisfy guests. Swirls of jam and fresh berries will have them forgetting all about pie. Check out our Pinterest for the full recipe and tons of other seasonal hacks.
#GrillPower - A backyard pizza party in less than 15 minutes
